The hazards of work are generally recognised and controlled. However, the long-term chronic or indeed some short term or acute effects of exposure to substances remains a major problem within our working environment. It is only in the recent past that some of the suffering from long-term exposures to hazardous substance has come to light; the effects on the individual, the costs to the employer and to the nation are becoming far higher than other safety related costs.
Objectives
The course examines the legislation, control strategies and the effects of exposure to substances in the workplace. On completion delegates will:
